REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DODGE CITY KS
950 PM CDT MON AUG 12 2013
Early morning clouds and fog had dissipated by mid morning, leaving
mostly clear to partly cloudy skies across western Kansas until
early this evening, when clouds and a few thunderstorms began
developing across southwest Kansas late this afternoon. High
temperatures today ranged from the mid 80s in eastern Kansas, to
around 90 in southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle.
An upper level low pressure trough over western Kansas will slowly
move east overnight, while the cold front in southern Kansas
continues to drop south into Oklahoma. This will bring increased
chances for thunderstorms to develop tonight across much of
southwest Kansas. Some of these storms can possibly produce heavy
rainfall and local flooding. Another upper level trough will
approach western Kansas tomorrow morning, bringing more thunderstorm
activity to southwest Kansas during tomorrow morning and into
tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures will drop to below normal tomorrow,
and continue through mid week.
Low temperatures tonight will range from the upper 50s in eastern
Colorado, to the mid 60s in western Kansas, with mid to upper 50s in
central and eastern Kansas. Highs tomorrow will range from the upper
70s in northwest Kansas, to the mid 80s in southeast Kansas.
