Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
300 PM EST Sun Dec 10 2017
.DISCUSSION...High pressure centered well to the west and south
of the forecast area will keep dry Canadian air over the region
through Tuesday. A reinforcing cold front will cross the area
from the northwest by Tuesday afternoon, with a tightening
pressure gradient keeping winds up beginning Monday evening.
Poor dispersion is expected this evening through mid-morning
Monday, during the nighttime inversion. No fog is expected due
to the dry airmass.
Surface winds Monday will be from the west-southwest less than
5 mph after daybreak, then become southwest at 5 to 10 mph by
late morning. Transport winds will be west-southwest around
10 mph and increase to 10 to 15 mph. Relative humidities will
drop into the 40 to 45 percent range.
